The weirdest laws on the planet: It’s a crime to forget your wife’s birthday in Samoa!!

The world is weird, and it becomes even more when you get to learn about some of the most unusual laws around. Most of these laws actually still exist, despite we can doubt if they are really respected or not. For instance, in seven USA states, according to their constitutions, atheists are barred from holding public office. That’s just ridiculous, but it’s true. Interracial marriage was still illegal in Alabama in 2000, whilst the Philippines and The Vatican remain the only two states in the world where divorce is still illegal. French legislatures state that it is illegal to marry a dead person.

In Dubai, extramarital sex is against the law and could result in imprisonment for over a year. In the case of a rape, both the victim and the attacker could end up being charged with the same crime.

Allegedly, in Greece police officers are allowed to arrest anyone suspected of having HIV; police are also enabled to force HIV testing and even publicize the names of HIV-positive people and have them evicted from their homes. Hopefully, this existed in Greece in the past and is not part of the country’s current legislatures.

We are all confounded upon reading these legislations, and we are immediately looking for a logical explanation behind. Logic could be found once we apply the historical contexts in each country, but I still fail to see how that can work for the next four weird laws you are about to read…

Weird Law in Nevada

…but after learning that in Massachusetts it is deemed illegal for a woman to be on top during sex, this law existing in Reno doesn’t really matter…

Weird Law in Samoa

I don’t know much about Samoa, but to all native men from there who might be reading this – be cautious in case you forget. We are with you.

In China, apparently one needs governmental permissions for a number of different things, but who would have expected you still need one for reincarnation…

China, Reincarnation

I also must confess I am surprised that in China, it is also a law that a person must be intelligent to go to college.

About the Germans, I would never doubt their abilities in keeping everything ordered and classified, even pillows.

See you soon with more of these confounding weird laws!
